The context:

The challenge:

Market turbulence in recent years has given rise to new interest in unlisted asset allocations, with traditional investors seeking to further diversify portfolios and reduce risk. However, allocators have found it difficult to obtain unbiased information about private market investment funds. Objective leveraged Preqin data to fill this gap and business expanded exponentially after implementation.

“We strive to always be there for our clients, even in challenging times,” Boaz told us. “The conflict in the region has created a lot of uncertainty in the market. While tradable assets have been adversely affected, non-tradable assets have been impacted to a lesser extent. Local investors turned to us to better understand their investment options, in pursuit of diversifying their portfolios.”

“We analyze a wide range of private asset funds and need the necessary tools and information to compare various funds from the same vintage year. Before we discovered Preqin, it was challenging to acquire comparative data on yield, overall performance, or investment strategies,” Boaz continued.

Objective needed a tool to systematically verify and compare key fund metrics and trends across a wide variety of unlisted asset funds in private equity, venture capital, real estate, private debt, and infrastructure. Analysts working with Boaz and the Objective team also needed a way to stay updated on new developments.

Using Preqin Pro, Objective analysts regularly update data on their target list of core funds and conduct essential performance analysis for benchmarking purposes. Key information from Preqin Insights+ research reports helps Objective to tap into trends in the industry or collect targeted fund details.

Leveraging Preqin data and analytics has enabled Objective to become a trusted provider of investment analysis globally. The results:

When asked which aspects of Preqin data, tools, or insights Objective uses the most, Boaz answered “We use specific fund information, as well as data on fund performance — such as comparable funds from the same strategy and vintage. We also use Preqin Insights+ and market updates — these assist us in performing our market research, or understanding global investment trends, which we then incorporate into our quarterly reports on institutional investors.”
